The Anita Salas Memorial Fund provides last-resort financial assistance to low-income, uninsured and underinsured residents in the Central New Mexico service area. Volunteers assist applicants in exhausting all other available resources, then provide direct financial assistance for breast cancer treatment services, diagnostic services, transportation, daycare, and lodging necessary for treatment, insurance premium assistance, COBRA payment assistance, prescription drugs and co-pays.

Cancer Institute Foundation
This comprehensive project is designed to significantly improve treatment access for low income patients whose breast cancer diagnosis requires chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy in Santa Fe County. Financial need is validated by protocol and thereafter, travel, housing, and meal expenses associated with prescribed out-of-area treatment are underwritten by the program. The program provides additional support components including mentorship and support group programs to service breast cancer patients and survivors, and Spanish-speaking volunteers to accompany patients with language barriers through diagnostic and treatment visits.

The New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation provides unique and critical financial resources for low-income cancer patients undergoing treatment. The foundation pays for genetic counseling, and non-medical expenses such as rent/mortgage, utilities, car payments, food, daycare, and transportation.

People Living Through Cancer is a local and national leader in cancer survivorship. The organization provides support, knowledge and tools to empower survivors to become advocates for themselves. The “Supporting Sisters” project provides specialized support groups lead by a mental health professional for the newly diagnosed, for those coping with metasteses, and for those who have recently completed treatment. Through direct referrals, “Supporting Sisters” program will also work specifically to compliment the medical survivorship program implemented by Presbyterian Healthcare Services.

Cleaning for a Reason
If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning – once per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is apply and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her area arrange for the service. This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help women. (Yes it is women only for now.) Spread the word. For local services, click on the link below.
